Catching Love in a Coastal Town – Interview with Carla Caruso

It’s fair winds and fine seas today on Writer’s Block, which has been magically transformed into a yacht – a fitting setting for coastal romance author Carla Caruso, whose latest book Catch of the Day has consistently received four and five star reviews. Join me and Carla as we discuss handsome photographers and slick city girls in coastal country towns.

Of Modern Art and Intrigue – Interview with Avery Hays

Who doesn’t love Paris in all her seasons? Today Writer’s Block goes back in time to 1910 on the Left Bank within an octagonal building called La Ruche (the Beehive), home to the greatest artistic talents of the time. I’m chatting with Avery Hays (aka Warren and Adele Hays) about their fabulous novel The Sixth and its protagonist Florbela Sarmentos.

Riffing on ‘Rafferty & Llewellyn’ and Life – with Geraldine Evans

Today I’m chatting with UK crime writer Geraldine Evans. We’ve agreed on the Black Swan, favourite haunt of DI Rafferty and part of his patch in Elmhurst, Essex. The grey day is made bleaker by bare branched trees and leaden clouds, but the warm glow behind the latticed windows of the ancient pub exudes welcome and the promise of a relaxing ale. Which is good for me because I’m a little awed at meeting the prolific woman behind the gripping Rafferty and Llewellyn police procedurals and more.

Interview on the Edge – Diane Hester

I’m sitting in the living room of a log cabin in northern Maine watching the flames dance in the granite fireplace, about to interview Diane Hester, about her book Run to Me. It’s Autumn here – Fall, as the locals say – and the forest is aflame with leaves of ochre and gold. Stunning. But I wouldn’t want to live here alone, in the dark, at the end of that long, lonely track. *shiver* Glad I have some company.

Interview with a Vampire Author – Natasha Ewendt

I’m about to enter the mansion on Van Diemen’s Land Island to interview Natasha Ewendt about her debut novel, This Freshest Hell. The mansion is pretty imposing; I can see why it featured in This Freshest Hell. It’s opulent and surprisingly cosy (in a creepy, is-someone-going-to-leap-out-attack-me? kind of way). I’m hoping to meet the delectable and dangerous vampire, Orfeo. He’s twelve thousand years old — I’ve got a thing for older men. Wish me luck!
